I spend my Sundays as well as most Tuesdays and Thursdays, interning at the Art and History Museum. While many will ask me, "Why do you waste your time, not getting paid." and I generally respond with the simple, "I do it because I love it." It really is more than that.
I do it because the life experience is invaluable. While getting a degree from a college is a great asset and really a necessity in this day and age, I personally feel life experience trumps all. To me, what good is my degree if I don't have to skills and the well rounded assets to back it up. I tend to over extend myself when it comes to achieving my life experience goals, but in the end it will all be worth it, and I hope to be one step ahead of the competition when all they have is that little piece of paper.
Plus if I'm doing what I really love, and I assume it is the same for most, as much as we would like to be paid the value and reward I get just from doing it is enough, well at least for now.
